16-year-old GM Marc’Andria Maurizzi is the current Junior Chess World Champion. He won the title scoring 8.5 points in 11 rounds (three others had the same score, the winner was decided by tiebreak).

He became a GM in 2021, at the age of 14. In the 2024 Tata Steel Chess Tournament Challengers, he finished in a shared second place, scoring 9 points in 13 rounds.

He is participating in the TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament for the first time.
