Last year’s runner-up in the TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament, 14-year-old GM Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş, has, since his last appearance, made his way into the world top 50.
In the 2025 European Championship, he finished in shared 4th place, with a score of 8 points in 11 rounds. In July 2025, he played a match against 8-time Russian champion Peter Svidler, winning the classical part with 4-2 score over six games (but losing the blitz game part with a score of 2-10).
In the recent Tata Steel Masters Tournament he was the youngest participant ever, scoring 7/13 and finishing in shared 6-7th place.
He is participating in the Tepe Sigeman Chess Tournament for the second time.
