15-year-old GM Andy Woodward is the newest rising star in US chess.
He became a grandmaster in 2024 and recently won the Tata Steel Challengers tournament, scoring 10 points in 13 rounds and qualifying for next year’s Tata Steel Chess Tournament main event.
He also won the 2025 US Junior Championship and scored 7/11 in the 2025 FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament with a performance rating of 2784.
He is participating in the TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament for the first time.
