19-year-old GM Nodirbek Abdusattorov is Uzbekistan’s number 1, and one of the newest additions to the world top 20 list.
He has long been considered a chess prodigy, starting in 2012, when he won the under 8 class in the
Youth World Championship.
He became a GM in 2018, at the age of 13, and in 2021, he won the Rapid Chess World Championship. He played on the first board for the Uzbekistan team in the 2022 Chennai Chess Olympics, in which the Uzbeki team secured a sensational win.
He finished second in the 2023 Tata Steel Chess Tournament, and shared first place in the same tournament in 2024.
He is participating in the TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament for the first time.
