Welcome to the 2021 TePe Sigeman & Co Chess Tournament!

The Limhamn Chess Club is proud to invite the players, the chess audience, the media and the sponsors to the 26th annual Tepe Sigeman Chess Tournament. The tournament will take place at the Malmo Live conference centre in central Malmo. Just like last year, eight players will play seven rounds, and as usual, the field is outstanding!

Swedish no. 1, GM Nils Grandelius (winner in 2013, 2017 and 2018), will face a strong field, headed by one of the true legends of chess, former world champion Anatoly Karpov.

A strong contender will be Dutch GM Jorden van Foreest, who recently won one of the world’s strongest chess tournaments, the Tata Steel Chess Tournament, ahead of world champion Magnus Carlsen and a number of the other top 10 players in the world.

Among the challengers will be the current Asian champion, GM Liêm Guang Lê from Vietnam, Czech no. 1, GM David Navara, and former world championship challenger GM Alexei Shirov, now representing Spain.

We also welcome two players from the great chess nation of India, GM Harika Dronavalli, one of the top female players in the world, and GM Nihal Sarin, who, at age 16, is one of the most promising young players in the world.

As usual, we have tried to create a mix of legends, young talent, and interesting personalities, and we would like to congratulate all chess fans on the opportunity to once again see world-class chess live! Do not miss the opportunity to follow the games, guided by our commentators, grandmasters Ivan Sokolov and Stellan Brynell. It will be possible to follow all games in real time on the Internet (www.tepesigemanchess.com).

We would also like to thank all our sponsors, TePe, Sigeman & Co, Malmö Stad, Schackakademien, PWC, Mobile Labs, Grenspecialisten, Ferring Läkemedel, Servicekuben, Max Matthiessen, AWA Sweden, Softhouse Consulting, SEB, Informationsteknik, Hotel Duxiana, Malmö Live, and all others who once again have contributed to making this traditional chess event happen.

Once again, welcome to the 26th annual Tepe Sigeman Chess Tournament!
